Hi, new to this.

Only got my Corvette 3 months ago. well worth the wait (10 years!!!!!)

You guys seem to know what your talking about so here's one for you.

Sometimes I get into my car , turn the key, the lights on the dash come on, the interior fan comes on but the engine, not even the starter motor makes a sound............... I walk away from the car and any where between 5 mins and 1 hour the car will just start on the first turn of the key!!!

Whats going on?

Cheers

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center.

Can you give us more details? What year is it? What does have for mileage?

I am still learning myself but it sounds like a Vats security problem to me. Did you try another key, or try cleaning the chip on your key. Maybe someone else can correct me if I am wrong. I have not had that problem yet.

Yeah it sounds like a VATs problem.. Try what Jeepie sadi and let us know

Could also be the Park/Neutral Switch (if it's an automatic).
Try holding the key in the start position, and rack the tran selector from
park to neutral - see if it tries to start at all.
I've had trouble with this myself.
LOL

Hi,

Agree that problem is 99.9% vats-----------I have an 86 coupe with 27 plus thousand miles. This happens every time I let car sit for several days without use but have found an inexpensive remedy---------------as you are putting key into the ignition, press hard(to the left) before you turn key in the ignition and it should start everytime.

There is another post here that goes into a lot of detail about these problems with the C4. (USE THE SEARCH ENGINE)It is not unigue to our year or model.
If this does not work, try the other methods mentioned but I will give you another hint----------after it fails to start, wait 5 minutes and try again---computer resets whatever so any attempts after that 1st failure will not work for approximately 5 minutes.
