what is the stock rodcester carb's cfm? i have a holley 750 sittin around and allthought its too much for a stock 350, i was just wondering.

vetteKID,

I believe the stock Q-jet is 795 cfm, however the smaller primarys put the majority of the volume to the secondarys. A 750 will work on a stock 350, however you may have to re-jet to lean it enough for your application.

The q-Jet is 750 cfm. Big carb, but with the vacumn secondaries it will not give the engine more gas than it can use. Now a carb with mech secondaries can give the engine too much fuel and bog the engine. The Q-Jet is a great street carb.

tom...

I run into a lot of people who want to swap their QJet for a Holley/Edelbrock/Demon whatever...

The QJet really is a great carb for all-around use! The other carbs are really intended for performance applications. So if you're drag racing your car, go for it! If not, there are lots of other ways to spend your money and get more oomph out of your Vette...

IMHO, your 750 Qjet should be good for engines up to 400 HP. It may need to be rejetted for engines that aren't stock anymore, such as my own, but you can get great performance from it when it's properly tuned.
