whats this wire for on a 1990 automatic?

1982 convertible (not factory) stock 350cfi auto
it's a tan wire with single black stripe and has a black connector this wire is right by the wiper motor sort of.

for some reason there is a toggle switch connected to it so what is this wire for.
 
Got no help but if my 89 has the same I'[d like to know too.
 
sounds like the EST, when disconnected allows for adjusting base timing at 6* (w/out computer control).

I agree. Sounds like someone got tired of unhooking the wire to set the timing. Kind of a nice touch, I just may do that.
To check it ,if you have a timing light ,flip the switch and see if the timing drops to the specs.

Why would you want to do that since there is a easily accesible weatherpack connector like 3 inches from where he spliced this switches wires at.
