Just replaced all six u-joints in my 81 vette. Noticed that the left rear wheel was off (camber). I think that it may have something to do with the left rear wheel bearing assembly......1st, does anybody know just how difficult a job it would be to replace the assembly and 2nd where would be the best place to locate a good used or remanufactured beaing assembly. Or should I take the vette into a shop and have the work done? Any idea how much $$ it should cost to have the job done at a shop?

Tom,

Your camber might just need adjusting, but do check your wheel bearings by all means. As for doing the job it's not all that hard to take off the trailing arms if they aren't rusted on, but setting up the bearings requires some special tools. If you have to have it done Van Steel is the place to have it done. Ask for Art and tell him Scott told you to call. Here's a little more info on the rear end for you Rear Suspension Rebuild

Scott, Thanks for your information. I pulled up the sites that you mentioned. "Great Information". I was getting ready to crank the vette up and take it to a vette shop in town to have them give it a look (to make sure it is the bearing assembly) before I called your friend, when the carb started loading up. Just replaced the fuel pump and filter. Go figure! So, once I get the carb rebuilt I will take your suggestions. Guess, once I give the 81 vette a good ole fashion go over.....things will start looking up. Thanks again !
