I have a couple of spots (as I am sure a number of people have) on my wheels where the clear coat has been cracked or rubbed off. Brake dust and dirt have discolored the wheel at those spots. Is there a procedure, other than sending the wheels out for refinishing, that can be used to do a decent cometic repair?

Hi,

Is there a way to remove clear coat without sending wheels away? I just had all scratches and dents(?) repaired on the body!

Jake, from Corvette Concepts, did a great job matching new paint to a 16 year old body. Car now looks terrific-------only bad spot remaining is a scratch or peeling mark on one of the wheels.
We sure are nuts trying to make a 16 year old car look as good or better than new but.....................IT IS FUN!

Any tips for fixing whole wheel(s) will be appreciated.

I used a JET buffing wheel on my angle grinder then down graded to a Walter Flapper wheel on my Jeep wheels and came out nearly chrome looking.

I started with acetone then used brush on paint remover to get the tough spots. Once all of it is off..Mothers does a great job....
