Ok. Some of you have read this post on C4 Mods, but I haven't received any responses. Come on people. I'm a loyal contributor. Hows about helping me out here.

Maybe different people read this C4 forum. Let's just seeee.....

Here it is again: <<I plan to purchase aftermarket wheels for my '95 within the next two months. Can you answer some questions for me?

I like the 2000 and 2001 5-spokes.

1. My quandry is whether to go with the polished aluminum or chrome. I like the satin look of the polished over the chrome, but are there really any quality differences between the two?

2. Also, what are the pros and cons of OEM and non-OEM? There is a local wheel warehouse that has 2000 5-spoke polished aluminum OEM's (9.5 x 17) for $1100 complete. Does this seem like a good value? I've seen non-OEM chromes from $900 to $1300.

3. Will OEM 2000 or 2001 fit my '95 without mods?

4. Any special things I should look and ask for? I've noticed that some wheels come without center caps and emblems; others are complete.

I plan to visit Carlisle in August. Are the deals so good that I should wait for that? Will I be able to trade in my stock wheels there? My current stock wheels are 99% (left rear has slight 1/2" blemish). What might I get on trade for those?>>

1. Polished or chrome? Quality difference? If the plating quality is marginal, it can begin to peel, especially if subjected to dings from road debris. Polished wheels will be harder to keep clean and bright, but isn't plated, so it can't peel. I don't care for either finish....I prefer black Grand Sport 5 spokes....they hide the brake dust better, but that probably only matters to racers!<g>

2. OEM vs. aftermarket: Generally the OEM wheels are lighter and more expensive, but most of us can't tell the difference. Does the weight matter? Only if you race. IMHO, for the most part, quality aftermarket wheels are a pretty good buy.

3. I know that ZR1 5-spokes fit my Z06. I know the 17 x 9.5 will fit your 275-40-17s. The spacing (wheels offset) may be different, but not by much, if at all, based on how the ZR1 wheels fit my Z06.

4. Find what pleases you and buy them!

5. You may find a deal at Carlisle, but I think the odds are better if you post here, on the VetteNet or ZR1 Net for both the wheels you're looking for and what you hope to trade.

My 2cents....Hope this helps!
