I don't know if this is the correct forum or not but I'm thinking of selling my '64 coupe and don't know the best time of the year to sell. Any opinions?

Let's move this into C2 to get some of the advice that you're seeking. Once the actual questions about how much, etc. start rolling in, we'll move it back into the For Sale section.

I dont know the condition or caliber of your car,but if it were a high dollar car I would say the time to sell it it is today on ebay to get the folks coming home from Barret Jackson who are still in the "high dollar muscle car state of mind" before it wears off.

I also dont know wher you live, but I live on the east coast,40 minutes north of NYC so we actually have car seasons,Meaning Aprill is the start of it and it normally ends at the end of August,

So in my area folks are looking to purchase a car in Febuary or March to have ready for Aprill. If your car is a convertable I was told the best time to sell it is when its hot/top down weather.

This advice is from a auto broker who keeps calling on me to sell my 66 vette or my 67 DeVille.

Good luck.

I can tell you that allthough I dont use my cars that often (I have more fun wrenching on them then going to car shows) I just dont think I could ever afford to replace them again.

I agree with Larry

here in Delaware we have the "car season" and with cars like these most people only drive them when the weather is nice.
You would probably get the highest interest and $$$'s selling it as we get close to the weather getting warm.
Most people probably don't want to buy a car now to have it sit for the next 2 or 3 months before they can actually use it.
March or April is when I would guess would be the best time to try to move it.

What condition is it in????

Please give us a little more detail and then we will be able to help you further.

Would you take a 96 LT1 in trade?

Would you take my mother in law, she cleans and cooks.

Alan

Ok you come from Virgina and your coupe is beige and it is in mint condition so l'll up the ante.

My mother in law and my father in law now that's a deal.

Don't sell it or you will be sorry, leave it to a family member uncle!

I always figured the best time to sell was you had reached room tempature..........:ugh

anytime before then and regret comes calling right after the sale :cry

The best place to sell a C1,C2!!!!!!!!!!!

Is through a Corvette Club of at a vette show if you don't want to give it to a specialist who keeps it in an indoor showroom and gets top dollar for it.

The only tough thing is the color, l don't remember a beige 64 coupe do you?

Alan

In my area (cold, lots of snow) the best time is when the back of the winter is broken and the first real thaw takes hold. That is when cabin fever is left behind and the summer is in view. And several good rain showers have washed the salt off the roads. Normally that would be early April. I take my Corvette out of commercial storage about mid-April (Easter).

Maybe he means Saddle Tan.....it is close enough.....my car was originally Saddle Tan with the Saddle Tan interior....it is now RED, close to Torch Red with the Tan interior....

Yes, the correct color is saddle tan with saddle tan interior. I always refer to it as saddle and figure everyone knows. It's a 327/300, 4 speed, matching numbers and trim tag, 3:55 rear, rebuilt front suspension, new shocks(front & rear), completely new drum brake system(drums, pads, wheel and master cylinders, springs and hoses), Lectric Limited wiring harnesses, new clock, rebuilt wonder bar AM/FM radio, all gauges work, new weather stripping, wipers and wiper motor work, headlights and buckets work, new seat covers(saddle tan), door panels and dash and console redone, P205/75R-15 whitewalls with knockoffs, new rear spring, rebuild kit in Muncie tran., it is a mostly original car.
79,500 miles.

Color threw me off!!

I thought all vettes were red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
