Just something I picked up on another forum. A guy locked his car and when he went to get back in, using the fob, the fob battery had died. No problem, he has a key. Unfortunately the key cylinder was bad and the key wouldn't work, even though it worked in the ignition.

I'll admit I would have never thought of this but it only took a few seconds to check that the key works in the door when I got home last night. Those of you with the pushbutton start won't have a problem but what about your other cars?

Just passing it along.

Good point.

Time for everyone to check the emergency access to their cars.

I had to open my '08 with the key last year and it worked fine. I've never checked my CTS or the Volt to see if the "key" actually unlocks the door.

I manage a towing company here in California.
You would be amazed at the number of lock-out calls we get because people's key fobs don't work, and they have no idea that they can even use their KEY to open the door.

And these people drive amongst us.

Sad commentary on humanity.
