When you say "Dawn"...

Evening all....

I have Tuesday off and I plan on washing, claying, and waging my newly acquired '97 for the first time.

I've spent time and looked at the posts, hints, and suggestions on how to do a professional job.

I'm left with a stupid question: When it says "Dawn" in the answers on what to wash and remove the wax with, what Dawn are they talking about? A trip to the auto store has no Dawn and I don't even want to tell you how many Dawn products are in the local Stop & Shop Supermarket. So is Dawn the dishwashing detergent, or some available only on the internet speciality item??

I am sure they mean the dishwashing detergent. Any dishwashing liquid should do the trick.

They're talking about the original blue (or blue-green) Dawn.

You'll love your cars finish after the "Dawn". That stuff takes all of the wax off, but not the enviromental fallout scraff, so use the clay bar for that. Do yourself the favor and wash the Vette-monster in the shade. Dawn dish soap leaves terrible water markes if your not careful. Take your spray nozzel off when you rinse, and start from top to bottom. All shade, no sunlight.

I have to share this with you all...

Tuesday came and I was psyched like a little kid! Had my newly arrived Zaino products lined up and my new microfiber towels all washed and ready to go.

Washed my new baby with Dawn.
Clayed (for my first time ever) with Zaino yellow. A lot easier than I expected and the results were absolutely fantastic! Smooth like a baby's ass...
Then used Zaino Z-1 followed by two coats of Z-2.

I spent hours but man-O-man was it worth it. The shine was deeper than anything I've ever seen before. The car glowed.

I took some pictures and will post next time I'm online. I swear, I feel like a proud poppa at the way it came out.
