Okay, I have to replace the piece of interior that is right below the trim/console plate. It is the rug/insulation that you have to remove to get at the screws of the trim/console plate.

Where can I replace this piece?

I have seen them in the MidAmerica, and Corvette America catalogs. They both sell them for $29, but you have to add your own carpet. Pretty good deal if you can reuse your existing carpet. To buy the carpet for it, looks like you have buy the complete set, just the front is $165, or complete car is $275.

Hope this helps!

Refer to this post I started a while back. I was given great advice on how to replace mine.

1977 vs. 1978-1982 console side trim

Hope this helps, I really liked the idea of hinging these panels to make it easier to get under the shifter console.

Really? I looked all over the MidAmerica magazine and couldn't find it. And, is there an adhesive to get the insulation onto my rug already? No use in buying a whole new rug set.
