I've got some good wheels on my 88, but the center caps have the clear coming off. Is there is a company that can refinish them without replacement? If so. is this cost effective? If not, where is the best place to locate some replacements at a decent price...

If you look close at your center caps, they are plastic with some kind of metal wrapper, a lot like a 50´s milk bottle cap. When the metal oxidizes it appears to be beyond refinishing.

If anybody has had any luck refinishing the center caps please tell us how.
;help

I have had great luck....it costs 30.00 per cap....

From Mid-Am or Ecklers...;)

My solution to this has been to go to a big Corvette show, like Carslile, and buy used
caps on the first day, before the good ones are gone. I think $10-15 per cap is reasonable.

88/89 17" center caps are alumn. the only part plastic is the emblem itself

Eagle85, you had your caps sent in or, was it a "core charge" process???

That would be VERY resonable - the caps are generally $125 per cap in the big Vette part catalogs :eek
