Which aftermarket EFI is best
Helo fellow vetters,

I did a quick search and found some "old data" about this topic. I ask the question as it appears the technolgy is changing every year.

My car is a 1981, with modifications to the engine (internal), mild upgrade to the cam, increased the Compression ration to 9.3.1, installed roller rockers, balanced and blue printed the engine, true dual exhaust, stock manifolds, plugged the air holes.

I have no idea what my new HP is, but I know it is better than the 190 that car came with the shark. I would like to maintain as much as the stock look as possible, some of the aftermarket kits allow use of original air cleaner and such, but not clear on distrubuter and current ECM.

I am asking the forum, which is the best system for ease of use and ease of tuning. I am looking at the following systems:

Retrotek: They have both a EFI and TBI (Looking at the TBI)
FAST:
Edelbrock: Pro Flow 2

There might be others, this is what I found so far.

Any help would be appreciated

from personal experience 2 FAST EZ EFI computers had to be sent back for a buddy that I helped install the system. Both times FAST comfirmed the computer was faulty. He then sent the entire system back and purchased the Powerjection III (the one that looks just like a holley 4bbl and has all of the computer stuff internally. Started on the first try and ran beautifully.

Installing an EFI on the L81 is going to be tedious.

It is not just the top-of-the-engine stuff. But also, new sensors, computer, gas tank, pressure regulators, and that's just for starters.

As far as the E4ME is concerned, nothing could be more simple to tune and depend on once you get some basic understanding of the carb.

I got a carb that Sensei tuned for me (the Brown Belt mod, I think...:L:boogie ), and it is working like a charm. He tunes them in his car, you know?
