I would get a 1974 as well.....However the verts may be out of your price range ....But the coupes can be had very inexpensively

1974

Either way. One thing we can definitvely agree on is that the Corvettes--actually any Corvette when compared to other cars are truly fantastic vehicles. Where can you get so much performance for so little money or so much performance for so much money? Sounds like a paradox but that is the beauty of optional packages. There is also the room to extract more if the will and cash are there. Enjoy your corvettes! Future owners--buy the corvette you desire.Be forewarned, the corvette bug has no cure and you will be hooked!

I think you have the right idea. The C-3 i think are the best body design of all. I have had 1 80 and 2 78's. All the C-3's have one main problem and that is the leaky T-Tops. I like the 78-80's the best, becuase of the area behind the seats. I can put a lot of stuff back there. Most of all there is room for my dog to go along. The 78 pace Car and newer seat let you fold the passinger side down flat. That makes it a lot easier to put things in the back. This just makes it a better daily driver to me. The cost to buy the 78-80's is for the most part less than other C-3's. No computers is a n other good thing. I love my 78's, but to tell the truth the 80 has the best looking body lines stock than all of them. I has very sorry to see my 80 go, but a big 4X4 pulled out and took the front end off of it. That's the only reason I have a 78's now.
Good luck on your search, but remember; It's what you like, that is really the only thing that matters.

Bear in mind that alot of Vettes no longer have the original motor installed anyway. (like mine)

Someone mentioned radial tires being new for '73. Thats true, but how many 72s are you going to buy that have bias ply tires on them!

I recomend you look at a lot of pictures and decide which years you like. IE:

Ground effects (80-82)
Flat rear window (68-77)
Sport mirrors (77?-82)
Convertable (68-75)
Cruise control (77-82)
Interior styling (68-69, 70-76, 77, 78-82)
Chrome bumpers (68-73)

Then find a car you're crazy about. Keep in mind these cars will require a LOT of work, so it has to be worth your time, money, and effort.

Good luck,

The "dirty" 454 LS-7, 460hp, DID make it into production, but was sold only over-the-counter and was not installed in production vehicles, save for a few (reportedly 6) for press review. What happened to those six is anyone's guess, but it sure has made for interesting speculation and pompous expert pronouncements. And it WAS advertised!

1974

The dirty 430 is a DIFFERENT engine than the dirty 454 you refer to. As far as I know the 430 did not make it into production of any kind and was not advertized.
