I am finally getting around to replaceing my exhaust system. I chose one from corvette central, I've heard good things about them. But my question is I also ordered there magnaflow muffler. I want a sound louder than I have now but I dont want to wake the neighbors early in the morning either. Anyone with experiance with these magnaflows I'd love to hear from you. Also my 65 327 uses 2" pipe but I orered the 66 pipe which goes from 2" to 2 1/2" instead, any problems with doing this. Thanks for any replys. Roland.

The 2.5 inch pipes make the difference. My car is a factory BB, so I use the same front pipes that you ordered to attach to the 2.5 inch rear pipes.

I have different mufflers. I use Borla stainless Turbos. They have a 2.5 inch inlet AND outlet. If your magnaflows don't make the sound you are after, I can recommend the Borlas. The sound is like side pipes - but it comes out the rear of the car - so you can talk to you passenger with the top down.

I don't know you neighbors. Borlas may be too loud for them.

You'll need to either rework or replace the "U"-shaped exhaust pipe support in front of the trans mount - the one you have now is formed for 2" pipes, and the 2-1/2" pipes won't seat in it properly and won't center in the holes in the crossmember.

And if you don't like the Borla sound, try Flowmasters...I have the 2 1/2" stainless with 2 Flowmaster 40's with crossover...Sounds like a small block should sound...Have a Magnaflow on my RegalGS...That's throaty...Loud too...

Exhausted

I'm thinking about changing my exhaust also on my 65. I just spoke to someone at "Allens." That is a chambered exhaust . The "ALUM 2" may be the way to go. If you look at his website he also shows an "Alum 1"
"Alum 2" has a little more baffle and a little bit more mellow sound ... very much like the factory sidepipes. However, you can listen to the radio at cruise speed. Just a thought I would be interested in hearing from others with a chambered exhaust and finding out what they think about the system after they had it awhile. ....:confused
