Whine/squel in second

Yesterday I took the Z out for a spin. When in second (above about 4k RPM) heard what sounded like a fan belt squel/whine. I have approx 1400 miles on the Z and never heard this before. It was cold outside(about 40 degrees). AT first I really thought the fan (drive) belt was loose.

I was able to duplicate this several times by running the car to about 4.5K RPM in second. Just reving the motor will not recreate this noise; I had to load the transmission. I did not have the room (highway) to run it up to 4.5K in third gear.

I have read several topic on shifter noise. The best I could determine was that my noise was coming from the shifter area.

Or maybe the trans fluid was cold?

Normal (as apposed to spirited) driving I cannot duplicate the noise.

I was going to just keep an eye (ear) out to see if it gets worse. It really was not bad...just I had not heard this before.

Any ideas?
thanks

Mine does this in third. Sounds like a gas turbine winding up. I like it!

I think it is just one of the many noises our cars make and they differ slightly between cars. Everything works just fine so I am not worried.
