I am installing a Pro Ratchet on my 89, I am swapping my zf6 for a built 700r4, the first cable fried due to the heat, I have heard that the stock cables can take more heat.

I have wrapper the cable and Y pipe with header wrap, my shop says the cats and the big cam creates "extra heat" the cable area is way hot.

The cable was removed to check for damage and function, seems fine with no visible external damage and slide action is smooth.

the trans lever works well, however the trans builder say the internal spring that the shift linkage is attached, can be "bent" to lessen the spring pressure.

The B&M shifter when fully attached does not want to shift as the "load" via internal spring is too diffcult to overcome.

Is this hypothesis plausible?

Or is it something else like heat causing the cable structure to turn rubbery?
