Fuelie can drive it Monday and Wednesday, I'll take Tuesday and Thursday and you can have Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Notice how we gave you the weekends, noooo need to thank us it's our pleasure? Doesn't that work out well? Do we start this weekend? :crazy . What do you mean how can I drive it with both legs and arms broken, they're not broken? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. On second thought you can have my two days OK? Hey, but if you need a sidekick for cruisin just call!!

Really though, anybody would jump at the chance to drive it daily! What a choice to make hmmmmm will I take the Sunfire, Century or the '67 today. Sorry I found your remark so amusing Bob, hit me later.

While your car my not be for everyone , it is what I desire in a hotrod. I've been scoffed at for wanting to remove the creature comforts from my 85 but it is the ride I desire . Once again, my thanks to Z28Canuck and Fuelie. The mounting holes are done and the homemade baffles are installed.

Now for the report. Fuelie says, "It's louder, but cleaner sounding than the Hookers. Something like very loud FlowMasters."

Mrs. Fuelie says, "Doesn't seem louder to me :crazy."

Personally, I can report that in city traffic, this is the most common reaction.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the sound of a new family sedan and 10 being open headers), here's what they sound like to me:

10 - open sidemount headers
09 - open undercar headers
08 - our home-fabricated 7-plate baffles
07 - the commercially-available 9-plate baffles
06 - Hooker slip-in mufflers for sidemount headers
05 - midyear factory side exhaust
04 - midyear factory off-road undercar exhaust
03 - midyear factory standard undercar exhaust
02 - my wife's Grand Prix GT (while accelerating :gap)
01 - today's average family sedan

No doubt I'll be going very light on the pedal around town.

I kept the old Hookers. If I start to go deaf, I can always re-insert them.

The sidepipes with the new home spun inserts sounds really cool. When you are in the car it sounds very much like open headers sound in the car if you have a helmet on. You still get that clean header sound sorta being able to hear each cylinder, just more muffled. It's a real blast when downshifting

Yes, Mrs Fuelie does not find it loud at all. Her '69 427 Tri-power car had Hookers with drilled out inserts in it and she loved it......of course after driving that and also our '56 Belair with a 6-71 blown BB.....maybe she's going deaf like the rest of us

Okay, I admit it. It's too loud for anything more than about five miles. I put on another 40 miles this afternoon. Even with earplugs, my ears are ringing. But, when I answer, no one's there.......... :crazy.

I think I'll be re-installing the Hooker slip-ins before I go completely deaf. I'll keep the 7-spiral for "special" occasions.

Truth be told, there's not much difference between this and open headers. It was a fun experiment though.

I wonder if the extra baffle makes all the diff. A friend of mine has a modfied 502 with Hooker side mount headers, Home made aluminum 4" side tubes and actual Spiral turbo baffles. The sound level is quite acceptable. I'll attach pics of the car. He has recently painted the car my fav, flat black. Way less fans whenever he's out. I offered to trade him bodies...........
