Why would someone install an Edelbrock throttle body on an LT4 with no other mods than a power effects exhaust.

That is how this one I am going to see is set up. Does it makes sense to use these together? Should it actually improve performance?

Thanks

Good question...mine is set up the same way.

DO NOT USE EDELBROCK CARBURETORS! I bought one and it has been the most frustrating experience of my life! What a piece of sh-t!!!! Tempermental, inconsistent.... out of the box. Yuck. Quadrajet or Holley is the only way to go!

The usual reason to substitute a throttle body is to put a bigger (opening) one on for a "performance gain". That alone doesn't usually do much without some othe complementary mods.:)

The plate on the TB no longer says "Grand Sport" . If I find a "Grand Sport" plate will it fit the Eddy TB?

The Edelbrock has a built in Air Foil. If that is your only reason, then you are wasting money, unless you are going for appearances. You can buy an Airfoil for less than a new TB. The stock TB looks like crap, but its very effective at what it does.

If you are changing sizes, then you get no good effect out of just that combo, in fact it will actually hurt. Now you will have more air coming into the engine than the engine can use, or push out. The only time you should consider a bigger throttle body is if you have done alot of engine mods, i.e. cam, heads, port & polish, headers, increased engine size( 383, 396etc).
