Hey Robert, Why are you yelling at me?;) I don't make the stuff, I just use it. I know a bunch of fi guys swear by the stuff. Here's a link to their site...http://www.torcoracefuels.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28
I wasn't yelling, just going BOLDLY where no man had gone before... =;-]

I've been on the site before, there have been a few 'discussions' on other forums about octane boosters...

The general trend goes 2 ways; people who swear it does what the maker claims and others who say it is expensive snake oil that 'does' things which are chemically and physically impossible...

I prefer Xylene at 117 octane; a 55-gallon drum is $211 delivered to your driveway which makes it $3.87 per gallon. In 5 gallon pails at your paint store it is about $35 which makes it $7 per gallon.

It is pure C8H10, no metallics to harm your cats or O2's, and is a significant portion of 93 octane gas straight from the refinery already.

Search the Internet for Xylene and octane booster; there are cheaper and better ways to boost octane than Torco and it's hundreds of cousins.

Toluene is 114 octane but the DEA consider it a precursor for making crank or crack and many paint stores will no longer sell it to private individuals; true here in NE Florida.

A 70%/30% mix of 93 octane pump gas and 117 octane Xylene will give you a 100 octane fuel that I used to achieve 472 RWHP [555 FWHP!] with a stock Vortech V-2 kit on a 2003 Z06...

This has got to be the knee-slapping-est post I've ever read. I did not know this type of talk still existed.

Thanks for the entertainment.

Lets see my wife gets all of my paycheck which goes into our account, but she keeps the checkbook in her purse at all time. She has a separate account and she keeps that checkbook too. I have no accounts. I don't think this method will work for me.

However since her much more expensive Cadillac uses premium, I trust her to put in premium when she drives the Corvette. She doesn't drive my SUV or truck, both of which use regular.

you need to put in it terms she will understand.....you will be reducing her allotment this paycheck to 1/2 of what she normally gets.....she should be able to run the house etc with that kind of funding....that is the same thing that she did to your car.......that she can relate to....telling her that she wil hurt the motor she can not relate to....but cut the $$$ and when she complains....tell her that is the same kind of complaint that you get from the car with the lower octane........she (the car) can't run on this kind of supply!!!

That solution will only work if he's married to June Cleaver.

There was concern at one point about Xylene or Toulene (can't remember which one) tearing up the inside of a vehicles gas tank....like causing bladder separation. This was in C4 cars tho....FWIW I don't know...just a thought.

Do C5 cars have bladders in the fuel tanks?

Aromatic hydrocarbons are already present in pump gas to a large degree, what else was different back then?

im not sure about the C5 tanks....thats why i put that disclaimer in. There were posts in the ZR1 section of CF.com a few years back by the nitrous guys....a few of them had this problem. Too much of a good thing? who knows.

I would not add anything to the fuel. Your computer should make the corrections, so there is nothing to worry about. I would take 6Shooter's advice and fill her up with 91-93 when she gets down about 1/2. My wife has a habit of coming home from the grocery store and gives me a detailed account of all the money she saved clipping coupons (LIGAS). Sounds like you got a good deal on fuel that week. :eek It will not hurt anything, so you can remove the chains and let her back into the house now.
lol!

It's no wonder our wives hate us. Since the 87 octane deed was already done, the galant thing to do was to have said "I mistakenly put 87 octane into my Vette .. will MY stupid act cause me a problem". But nooooo, we gotta blame the wife, even though we KNOW it's gonna rachet up her disdain for our adolescent behavior and potentially impact us in the romantic department! Geez, I know I've said dumb things. Is there even 1 among us all that knows how to keep his foot out of his mouth with the women, or are we all just dogs?
