Hey Everyone,

The power windows in my 1982 don't go up all the way. There is a bout a 1/8 of an inch between the top of the glass and the T-Top.

How hard is it to adjust this? Anyone know any tricks/tips?

Thanks!

Adjusting the up stop is easy, the PITA is removing the door panel. The AIM or service manual have the procedure. Is the T-top adjusted correctly and is the weather strip in good shape? Just a couple things to check first.

:eyerole It can be a nightmare.

The first thing to try is lubricating the rear weather strip with silicone lubricant. When that doesn't work your stuck trying to adjust the inward/outward tilt of the window. Repair manuals show the adjustment points. For this adjustments it's a combination of the bolts that hold the tops of the window tracks to the door and the felt covered anti-rattle pads.

This is not a job for the faint of hart. You can easily make things worst an then mess with it for days before getting it right.

Watch the front edge of the glass. If you get the front edge out too far it will catch the metal piece in the front weather strip and chip the glass.

Good Luck. I hope someone else will post some really slick method to make it easier.

He's right. If it's the up stop thats easy. Do you have the same problem if you raise the window with the door open? If so that's the problem.

The PITA problem I was thinking of earlier occurs when you have enough drag on the weather strips to stop the window short of closed.

This job takes a lot of patients.

Hi again Minifridge1138, the willcox checklist is great, (thanks for that one). Everyone listed a valid question, the hinge bushings, works with door open or closed? To get it right you have to check everything. There are 6 adjustments, that move the top of the glass in or out, slide window front or back, and up and down. Take your time and you'll be happy with the results. PG

Everything seems to be aligned correctly.
Even when I roll up the windows with the door open, there is a bit of space at the top.
I've had the door panels off a few times before. It is a pain.
The car still has the original power motors (i can tell because they are still riveted in).
I think they just got old and started to sag. (too many jokes to make)

Thanks for the link!
