Wiper arms

The wiper arms on my 1986 C4 hit the hood when they are turned on...Then on shut-off then wont retract properly.....Is this common....Im thinking my be someone put the wrong arms on it in the past.....?????I tried to buy new arms they seem to be hard to find and costy if you can find...Any thoughts

Probably a blade problem rather than an arm problem. The wiper blade on the C4 has to be low to clear the hood. If a non-vette blade has been installed, it's probably too tall to work right.

Check out another C4 that has the stock blades still.

ran into the same problem when trying to replace the blades on my 95 last week. you should be able to get the 20" delco blade from your local chevy dealer that fits. the pair ran me about $27, but they do clear the cowl. I can give you the part number tommorrow if you need it.

i heard that early c4 owners can replace their wipe arms with newer ones (95-96) to solve any problems with hitting hood etc... has any one done this and do they fit??

Darn things are hard to adjust. Kind of hit and miss.
Somewhere there is a tech artical on this. Maybe on the Corvette Forum??????

I did the conversion to 95/96 wiper arms and blades a few years back. They clean better and stay on the windshield at speed where the original ones didn't. Also, I used to get an occasional interference between the left and right blade with the original ones - this hasn't happened with the 95/96 arms and blades.

For those of you that drive your C4 in the rain, I highly recommend switching to the 95/96 arms and blades. (unless you already have a 95/96!)
