Wiper Override Problem

The wipers on my 68 quit working this weekend, at a very bad time too may I add. The door still opens and closes but the wipers do not work. The wiper override light is lit. Fuses are intact. Is there a way to determine if the switch is bad?

Just a thought, use a Meter. On a '71 there are 3 wires [sure one goes to the vac sw under the drivers dash for the wipe cover] going into the wiper sw. Find the hot and the ground. Jumper the hot to ground with the door overridden on the plug side. The wiper should run. Wiper runs = a bad or correded sw. R&R sw or clean the contacts. Don't run = ??? motor/wiring???

Is your gauge cluster broken at the top half. Where the gauge console gets thin, they tend to break. And if this happens, sometimes you can loose your ground to the wiper switch. Try turning the switch on and moving this broken piece around and see if you can hear them try to pick up and work. Just a guess, hope this helps.

Bfry,
If you need wiring diagrams, let me know. I'll pull them from the AIM and e-mail them to ya.
