GM PartsDirect- LT-4 conversion kit. $2100 for the top end, including the super bad red intake.

Then I would have the only automatic LT-4 around. The only problem is this engine is purrfect, and the tach doesn't go high enough.

I could always put the 454 ZL-1 in there. $21,000 sounds reasonable.
I am going to lie down, sober up and get real.

It is an outfit called Flow Chevrolet. I love the picture of the famous ZL-1 aluminum 454. They have #1 available.

This was originally offered in the '69. It was called "The Rat" option. 600 HP off the floor. I think this was the most ever offered stock from Chevy.

If my top end blows I'm going LT-4.

Actually you would not have the only LT4 automatic. I remember seeing a story that a worker at Bowling Green was able to put one together. They say the 700R4 is not strong enough for 330 horse. I think that is a bunch of gunk! I believe he drives his everyday, and the car has not blown up, yet.

I agree that the intake is the trickest intake Chevy has ever made. Did you know that Arizona Speed and Marine Company actually designed the LT1 intake? They were the ones that came up with the idea of no water going thru the intake and the shortness of the runners which gives the low end grunt.

I know of two early C4 (one 84 and one 85) Vettes that have had LT-4's installed with automatic transmissions. Both are autocross cars, and one is set up with a four-barrel Holley instead of the fuel injection. Their 700R4's hold up very well to the LT-4 power, and these are probably pushing closer to 350-400 horsepower.

Didn't the LT-4 have different pistons and sodium cooked rods? I wonder if the lower end is the same. I feel like the auto could handle it too. Mine is crisp after 7 years.

It's interesting to know you could bolt in an LT-4 for a reasonable cost, all GM. The LT-1 is horrifying now when she kicks in. I'm more of a poser anyway.

I believe the block is the only item that is the same from one to the other. Go to LT4.com and you can bring up the list of differences between the LT1 and the LT4. The LT4 is amazing. The engineers were able to hot rod the LT1 and they did not spare any expense. The LT4 was a $1,450 option when I ordered my car. Was worth every penny! And mods are easy to do, also.

i saw the "factory" automatic ce lt4 at a car show in missouri, i think the guy who ownes it now is from ohio. if i remember correctly the transmission was not a factory one but a racing trans. the computer was also reprogramed at the factory so it was producing around 400 hp.

You won't ever see a LT1 turned into a LT4. It isn't cost feasable because of the long list of different parts. The cost to buy all of the LT4 parts would be more than building the engine up to have much more power than the LT4

This is a top end kit only.... LT4's have a different crankshaft, pistons, and more... just on the bottom. on the top of the engine you are looking at different intake etc., which is mostly, but not fully listed in the kit. One thing that isn't on the list are the valves. These are just a couple of items that i picked out from memory. LT4's are actually much more different than LT1's than most people think

I'm thinking of buying the LT4 heads and intake plus the LT4 Hot Cam kit and installing it on my '92 LT1. It won't be a true LT4 but it should up the performance some. I'm working with a local dealer's service department on this and they'll do all the work - when I put a couple thousand more dollars away.

I'm sure I'll need a new chip also. Anybody had any suggestions as to which company I should call for the chip?????
