i ran 6 consecutive rounds at our club event for http://www.easternfbody.com and went 6 rounds to win the finals saturday! i won a nice trophy and 100 bucks in cash. after changing out my plug wires from Hot Rod week in Ocean City MD i burnt 3 plug wires to the core there and needed to put some new ones on. unfortunatly i didn't realize at the time the cap was bad and the car still had a mis fire on one of the cylinders. the parts store were already closed and i couldn't get a replacement in time. good news is i know the ins and outs of bracket racing and still pulled out the win although my times were all over the place from 13.7's to 13.5's mainly due from hot lapping the car all day.

Finals:
Bracket Racing

1st: Michael Unger 87 Corvette 13.676 @ 100.62 on a 13.69 dail in
2nd: Matt Smith 98 Firebird 12.901 @ 105.46 on a 12.92 dail in

i pulled the hole shot with a .037 light to his .046 and he ran out more but it was won by less than 1 foot at the stripe.

Congratulations, Mad-Mic. Personally, I lost in the first round my last race. Oh well, I can only get better!

thanks fella's! that was my first bracket race this season. i did win a street car bracket race last year and seen 3 semi final rounds so this kinda makes up for all the semi round appearances from last year. :D

Way to Go!!!

Thats awsome, great reaction time too. I don't even know if the drag strips by me run bracket races.:upthumbs

thanks fella's!

Tanreall, they should have bracket racing during the weekend :)

Congrats, and who said winning isn't everything?.....I ran in bracket racing the only time I took my vette at the track and finished 4th..Funny thing was that the winner was a 56 yr old man with a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee......He must have got lost along the road heading to an "off-road" event and ended up there.Untill today I never have figured out Why someone would show up at a drag-strip with a 4X4.....was it for the 10 dollar trophy?;shrug

Weird, isn't it? The person who won the sportsman division Gold Cup last summer at the local strip ran an old Volkswagon Beetle. He ran about 19.5. Give me a break. In bracket racing, it is about consistency, not speed. :(

good for you, Mike....you deserve it!

If anyone deserves to win the races, it's you Mike.
You've worked really hard on that car and helped so many others.
Mine is running like a top....sounds great, runs real strong and I'm lovin it.
I do some runs around here locally, but not at the track yet. Soon...
Regards,
Bob

I won the first two rounds in my class last weekend. The third round, I lined up against a Viper running stock tires. His dial was 0.2 seconds less than mine. I knew that I could beat him. But I was so intent on crossing the line first that I did not pay attention to where he was. I broke out, but only ran 0.1 slower than his Viper. I lost, but had the consolation that I ran even with a car that has 100HP more than I do.

Last month I ran my 1993 6 speed for the first time at California Dragway. On the first run I ran 14.05 at 100.19 mph. R/T was horrible at .881. Also like a dummy I forgot to turn off the traction control. The second run, with traction control off and quite a bit of tire spin, I ran 13.94 at 101.9 mph and my reaction time was worse than the previous at .986. But with this run, despite the poor R/T and tirespin, I still ran some decent numbers. Later this month I will give it another shot. I don't think I did to bad for the first time out. Hopefully with lessons learned I will run in the mid 13's. The only mods I have are K&N filter and open lid, Hypertec ThermoMaster chip w/ 160 degree thermostat, MAT relocation, throttle body coolant bypass, throttle body Air Foil and MagnaFlow mufflers.
