That's also for three colors, and a pinstripe on each side of the stinger, so if someone wanted just a basic paint job, the price would be dramatically lower.

Hey,'Shark,did you have to wait while Vanacor made the hood for you? And if so,how long? They told me to fax them a copy of the money order,then they'd start on the hood(s).At least 2 poeple want a "Daytona" and the "Stinger".Were there any significant imperfections- such as waviness,bad edges,etc.? I'd like to know ASAP,as we're wanting to get going by Monday(1/7/04)!! Thanks....Jon:cool
 
I didn't have to wait, but they told me they had just taken one out of the mold, so if they didn't have one ready to go, I guess it might take a little bit for them to make one.

The hood looked as good as the rest of the glass on the car. I'm sure it would take more to make it perfect, but I doubt any glass part will be that good without work. It didn't quite line up perfectly with the fenders, but it could easily be my 25-year-old fenders that were the cause of the alignment problem, rather than the hood.

I'd suggest going over any concerns you have with the people at Vanacor, and find out what sort of quality guarantee they will give you. Then make sure to test-fit it before painting.

Instead of cutting the front opening, you'd be better off to go with cowl induction from the rear, like the L88 did in 1967 using this style of scoop. Have a look at 67Heaven's project and you'll see what is involved. There's pictures of everything you'd need to make it work. www.67heaven.com
 
I think I mentioned it in another thread, but I'm going to try and set up cowl induction without modifying the hood. I want to get an airbox, and use flex-pipe to duct it directly to vents cut into the cowl. I think that will work better than trying to build an airbox onto the bottom of the hood and getting it to align with the air cleaner (since these hoods are not stock, they won't simply accept a stock airbox, as far as I know).

Hey C3RVETTE, I have been to Vanacor's shop. They were happy to show me the whole place and explain any questions I had. They seemed like good people to do business with. Never bought anything from them, but everything I saw there looked like it was good quality. Art

If I didn't love the look of my hood (favorite part, for me), I'd be going after one of those hoods. Damn, that's nice. I can almost picture mine with a black stinger! -John
