Ad in the local rag for a Borla with X pipe for about $400 ...... so ..... and yeah I'm on a limited budget (read wife) ... it says Borla with "cat" ....

:eyerole;)

I been thinking about starting with this and a cold air system.

Right now I'm dead stock 345 hp w a 6 speed (2000) .... I'm guessing this would put me about 20 horses up on the game and was figuring on one of those fancy "tune" (chip) jobs in a few months.

How can I spend about a $1,000 in a "rational" way that can be built upon? Not much racing around here so "competition" will be limited to a trip or two to a new track (South Jersey Motor Sports Park) ..... they have two "GP style tracks.

The more I read the more confused I get ... :ohnoes:W

I just don't want to do something real dumb ... because I'm not up on the game.

Don't count on 20hp from a cat back system... not unless you're going to long tube headers at the same time.

My opinion only: Do the exhaust for looks (basically tips) and sound only. Stay away from the aftermarket "chip" tune. Even an expensive dyno tune can get you into trouble unless performed by a very reputable tuner with a lot of C5 tuning experience . Good luck on what ever you decide to do.

i just put on a b&b bullet series on my 01 today:thumb it is the bolt on system. two bolts on each side, right after the h pipe, and two bolts for the rubber hangers, drop the roll bar a little bit to get the bend over the axel. the whole thing took 45 mins on a lift. muffler guy only charged 20 $ and let me help:chuckle. sounds great!!!!!!!
