Replacing front rotors

I just bought a 77. Replaced the caliper and bought new rotors. I found I can't buy new rotors with hub assembly. Does the rivets have to be drilled out to replace the rotors? has anyone done this?

You can buy the rotors with a hub assembly, you just have to look at more than one catalog to find them. Mid America carries them, and I'm sure others do as well.

Yes, to replace rotors you do have to drill out the rivets. I'm assuming they're in horrible shape if you're doing that. Make sure you have them turned with the hub assembly.

Use the wheel lug nuts turned backwards (flat side to the rotor) on at least 3 studs, and then have the assembly turned. If you're good with a dial indicator, have them set up ahead of time so that you get the least amount of runout at the installed position. You do this by checking the runout as it spins, and doing it up to 5 times (there being 5 possible positions in which to install the rotor on the hub, switching positions each time). Once you do this, and they are turned as a unit, make sure you MARK them so you can always reinstall the rotor in its correct position.

I have the book and could look this up but, anyone know the ft lb's to torque these at? Yep, I'm lazy :)

By the way, as long as you're in the neighborhood, check the front bearings, and don't be afraid to re-torque them to spec.
