Ran across this car yesterday, and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on what it's worth? It's a '72 matching numbers LS5 with an auto trans. It's hammered pretty badly in the front. The owner rearended a parked car. The front clip is trash, as is the radiator. I have to assume that the frame is bent or twisted, as the right side exhaust manifold is almost up against the frame rail. The drivers door has a chunk out of it where the fender got shoved back into it. Otherwise, from the firewall back, everything appears to be in good condition. Thought about buying it to part out, but I just don't have a good feel for it's value. Whata' you guys think?

As to price that is very hard to say without seeing the car. I can tell you that when my 80 vette was totalled i bought it back from the ins company for $1300. The front end body was useless. From the firewall back it was fine. It only had 75K miles on it. The motor, rad and trans were not harmed. I sold over $5000 in parts off of it and still have some parts that will fit on my 78. I probably could of sold more parts, but the wife said she was tired of looking at it, so I sold off the rear clip and susp. cheap just to get it out of here. Mama is happy now and I've still have some spare parts.
Anyway look at what can be sold and figure a lot of time in to it. Then make an offer. Good luck

For those interested in parts or the entire car, my buddy has the car bought, and will either be parting it out, or reselling it, as is. He's just waiting for the seller to get the title straightened out. The guy bought it, never registered it, and yes, was driving and wrecked it, with no tags or registration. :( As soon as my buddy takes possesion, I'll post some pictures, and how to contact him.

Anything happen with this deal yet? :gap

phrogs,
The car is bought and at my buddies house. He's removed the totally trashed front clip. The car is for sale, as this isn't what he want's for a project car. He's going to try to sell the car as is, and if he doesn't have any luck, he's going to part it out. Oh yeah phrogs. The car is now blue with a black interior. However, upon checking the trim tag, we found that it was originaly, you guessed it, Ontario Orange. I'll post some pictures as soon as he gets them to me, along with his e-mail addy, as soon as I find out which one he want's contacted through. I've suggested to him that he register here so he can answer any questions personally.
