I own a 2000 C5. I wanted to know what some of you are using in terms of an X- Pipe and Hi Flow Cats. Also what diam?? Any help would be great, thanks...

Magnaflow and Bassani are considered to be among the best. Go with stock diameter unless you have high flow demands (i.e., big cubes or supercharger) or a larger than stock OD catback.

Oh yeah... congrats on post #1 and welcome to :CAC

I installed a corsa indy pace car edition cat back with tiger shark quad tips.Stayed with the stock X pipe. The car sounds fantastic, low growl at idle, thunderous roar on wot, and quieter than the stock system at cruise.I love it. And oh ya, it looks bad *ss too! johnm.

bassani best

There are lots of threads here as to opinions on exhaust systems.....if you do a thread search, you will have more information than you can read in a day.....
BUT..........as long as we're here.....I've got the Corsa Indy's with Pro Tips and the Bassani X-Pipe. Take a look at the "X" section of the pipes you look at, and I think that you can see that the Bassani has the smoothest section with the most possibility of good scavenging from side to side. Some of the X pipes look like they were just a section of pipe cut from the inside of each and then welded together --- does not look to me like there would be much cross flow on these. Bassani's section is custom made to be a full X, with each side's flow scavenging the other......that's where you get the most effect and the most evening of the sound from side-to-side....
I LOVE the sound of my system....a DEEP idle with no motorboat burble...you can hold your hands over the ends and feel that the pulses are even....WOT inside of a tunnel with the top off is something you will have to hear to beleive.....the goosebumps should last several minutes if you are a gearhead at all.................

There is no stock x-pipe. C-5's come with an H-pipe. While installing an X-pipe will eliminate some burble on idle, and popping on decel, you will lose some backpressure and low end torque. You will gain some top-end hp. It depends on what you like. I love the popping on decel and the burble sound. Also, I would never add anything to my car that would reduce backpressure and low end torque. On the street, low-end is what it's all about. I don't care about the top-end. To me, with the minor mods that some of us have the X-pipe is useless. With that said, if you mod the car more extensively, there are possible applications for the X-pipe. Some of the top small block tuners stay with the H-pipe. Do a little research. By the way, whenever we get into these debates I always laugh to myself because the 3 or 4 lb/ft of torque that you either lose or gain is probably irrelevant in a real world application. It's fun talking about it though.

Pac-man,
I agree with you 100%. As for me I wasn't a big fan of the poping on decel so I added an x-pipe and it cleaned up the issue a little. I'm running the Borla Stingers and they tend to be a little on the aggressive sound when compared to the Corsa Touring system. So I get a great low burble on idle, a very smooth but aggressive sound on accel and a nice semi-smooth sound on decel. Works for me - love the car.
