I have a silver vert on order and included the XM option.

I saw another new one at a Chevy dealer the other day and noticed that the placement of the antenna is right in the middle of the trunk lid.....seems like a strange place to put it.

My question is that the regular placement of the antenna from the factory and are there any options to the antenna placement or could this be a dealer installed unit?

Anyone else out there with a new vert and XM that can tell me how their car antenna is setup.

Thanks

That is where they put it!! Bummer huh!?! For 2006 it will go in one of the side mirrors I am told. I did not order it for that reason alone. Looks like a wart back there!

Believe it or not...

Yes, as hard as it may seem, SOME of us actually LIKE the "wart." I think(and hope-lol) that down the road this will actually make the 05 vette a little more unique to the clan. Kind of like the split window was for the '63 of the C2 group. Well, maybe not that valuable, but along the same lines of making one year car unique in a group of cars(all C6's). Time will tell, eh?

No disrespect to those that like it or that have it on their Vert. Probably most. But to say you "like" the antena back there, well I guess everyone has their own taste.

But to me it's just plain ugly on a beautiful Vert! It's not a huge deal though. Maybe more like the mole on Cyndy Crawford's face!! LOL Maybe you grow to like it!!! :)

I just bought a C6 Coupe - the XM's on the roof bar, and I don't like it either, but there's precious little choice with the factory XM. And after spending some time with the car and the Bose radio, though, you really want the factory XM.

I'm curious why the even have it visible from the outside. A co-worker with an Accord has one of the ultra-low profile XM antenna coming up behind his dash and stuck on the dash where the windshield meets the dash. The thing is about a 1/4 inch tall and looks like it goes there. His reception is perfect.

And I think it was Rain that said he has his picking up signal through fiberglass.

Go figure. It must've been a rush addition which would explain why it goes in a mirror next year.

There is no reason to mount any antenna on the outside of a fiberglass body. The antenna could be mounted on the underside of the trunk lid. The covering of the antenna is fiberglass. Chevrolet did it this way because it is CHEAP and EASY.

yes, cheap and easy says it all. I didn't want it anyway but would not have ordered it due to antenna placement. They actually have a hole drilled through the roof don't they? This will be just swell when it starts to leak or come loose. Betcha the same guy who designed the front plate bracket did the work on the XM antenna. BTW how is the antenna housing attached to the car? Did they use double sided tape like for the front plate bracket? Such a good car as the C6 and then throw things like these on almost as afterthoughts.

Lord have mercy! Guess I'm in the minority with those who like the "wart." Sounds like you guys have too much time on your hands anyway-haha.

When I ordered my Vert I did not order the XM because of thr fugly antenna, instead I installed an XM Commander after market unit and it works GREAT, good sound and no fade to speak of, and the best part
you can't see the antenna because its behind the passenger seat.
