What does the antenna look like on the C6 coupe for the XM. Ugly?Is the XM radio a popular option?

Hi Andy,

welcome to the CAC :w
I'm going to move this over to the C6 area. Hopefully someone over there will be able to help you.

It's the black bump between the roof panel and rear hatch.

Thanks for the great photos. I've ordered my C6 with Xm and became concerned about the look of the Antenna. I'm better now. I get my car in about 2 weeks. Can't sleep! Thanks again.

Xm

I was at the factory yesterday on a personal tour and was told that the 2006 C6 will have the XM antenna incorporated into the right side rear view mirror.

I also inquired about how the '05 antenna is fasterned to the roof and it is via 2-sided tape they just stick on. However there are two holes under the antenna, one about 1/8" in diameter and the other about 1/2". The small one to stabilze the antenna and the big one for the wires to go through.

Delphi makes a very small XM antenna (comes with the Roady receiver) that I have in my '04 roadster that I thought could go on a C6 in place of the factory one. Its possible as long as the two holes get covered. I have a C6 coupe on order so may try when I get it (will advise and document the procedure if I do).

Thanks for the info. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Delphi antenna if you choose to check it out.

Delphi Roady 2

Andy,

After seeing the XM external wart, we cancelled the option. We bought a Delphi Roady 2 for $129.99 at Circuit City. Its wireless (no hardwired connection to the radio required), with a small antenna that we put up on the dash. It works great, also very portable...

You might check it out.:cool

I think this would be the way I would want to go!

Same engineer designed this as the front plate holder

It doesn't look that bad but the two holes? And double sided tape? Adhesive tape on a $50K car? How long is that going to last? The C6 looks like a fantastic new Corvette but these last minute duct tape fixes are not that great. I am curious about the weather seal between this antenna module and the two holes in the body. Look at the location of the unit in relation to the air flow over the body. Seems to the OLDGOAT that this airflow will work to get between the antenna and the body pretty quickly. Will this cause a water leak into the interior? It's also not exactly a beauty mark either.

I have a very long list of the fantastic things about the C6 that make me want to own one. Man is it a long list. However, I also am keeping a list of reasons why I don't want to own an '05. Most likely I would not have ordered the XM radio anyway. So far my option wish list is Z51. Period.
