I don't mean to sound argumentitive either... I don't argue over the car, at the current time I don't see a reason to buy one... It is good to hear others ideas/opinions on it all too. Maybe my mind will change... maybe it won't. Better yet, maybe GM/Chevy will do something about it!
It seems in the last 15+ years, GM has always taken the weak stance on all of their cars, and wind up with a bureaucrat type vehicle. What do I mean here? Only a dumb group of people could put the Aztek on the road (a great idea in a butt ugly package)... The SSR has guts, but still looks a bit lame (lame enough that people won't buy it, and I am actually considering buying one based on how cheap they are getting), the GTO looks like a grand-prix (who wants a throw-back muscle car that looks like a 'standard' car), etc. The only set in the GM lineup that has any guts is Cadillac. The Caddy line up is setting a new trend in car styling that is like no other on the road, but yet not ugly.
That is what the Corvette was all the way through the C4... I have never mistaken any 1996 and prior car to anything else on the road... Corvette always set the trend, not copied. And on top of that, the corvette always had great power, handling, etc.... Why should I settle for a car that looks like other cars to get better performance? I can't go 200 MPH, so a few tenths off for drag won't bother me if it means I get a UNIQUE car.
Corvette used to be about setting the trend for Performance AND Style... recently, that is not the case IMO, and no one seems to be able to set me straight
