C5Specialist hope your reading this. I really can't tell if this is cold air knock or what. I have a blackwing intake, powerduct, aftermarket MAF sensor etc. I installed larger injectors and the car ran real strong and smooth for a few months. I decided recently to install an inverted air scoop to grab additional air from underneath the car located in the radiator shroud below the filter. The installation came out really nice, but now the car studders alittle at cruise. Under some throttle, or full throttle, the studder is gone. First I retightened the intake system thinking I may have an air leak from having it apart, but it still has the studder. I thought, maybe it could be the intake air temp. Maybe I should reconnect the coolant bypass since it has gotten colder. I looked at my (IAT) inlet air temperature and it is 2 degrees above ambient going down the highway (45 degrees ambient, 46 degrees entering). I've also advanced the timing alittle, and it doesn't seem as bad, but the studder is still there at cruise. It's not real noticable to someone riding in the car, but i can feel it. Anyone with the same experience that may have an idea, would sure help. Thanks

I'm sure c4c5 Specialist will get here, eventually, but I can tell you that this is not the first case I have heard about some intake modifications affecting light/part-throttle driveability.

While the makers of some of these "ram air" kits will make some pretty amazing claims for power increases, reality is that intake modifications that change the induction to take air from ahead of the radiator seldom result in any practical gain, unless...you're operating the car regularly above 80-100 mph. In the rare case where there is a modest performance increase at WOT with the "ram air kit" isn't worth the part throttle misfire.

In an "a/b" test, I'd try removing that modification and see if the engine smooths out.

Lastly, know that if you ever operate your car in bad weather, those intake kits that take air from in front of the radiator make the engine more prone to wanter ingestion damage.

I'd suggest the air intake scoop type thing along with the other modifications your mentioning...like maf mods..might be causing your issue..

I seem to remember awhile back guys with the Blackwing mentioning something similiar when they put the cold air induction cover on that product
