Can someone recommend tried and true mods for my new ZO6??

Thanks, but what type of modifications have you done to your Z06? what kind of performance increases can be expected? What manufacturers components did you purchase? I am not a techy and need alot of help.

Z06 MODS

Paintman-

I find that my stock Z06 is already a handful to drive. I know of a person who put a supercharger on his Z06 and it became very difficult to control.

I am curious- compare your '69 427 and your Z06 in terms of drivability and performance. I have a friend who had a '69 427 and claims that it was quicker than my Z06. I am very skeptical. What is your perspective on this?

You should first decide where you want to end up.

Your present car puts down approximately 350rwhp..

Add an intake and headers and go to 380rwhp..give or take a few ponies..

Do a cam along with intake and headers and go to 410rwhp but your warranty takes a hike.

Do heads as well as other mentioned mods..you can go as high as 470rwhp (figure about 9 grand plus you need to do the clutch because stock it won't hold above 420rwhp for very long..)

Decide if you are willing to dump GM warranty on motor..which I would not tend to do personally until after the 36 month GM warranty is up...(thats just my opinion)

Intake/ headers/throttlebody are nice easy mods that improve breathing and will put you up around 380rwhp..(A buddy on www.c5forum.com did hit 407 rwhp with these mods and multiple ls1edit sessions on a dyno--hcvone is his forum id)

HOpe this helps

z06 mods

my '69 427 seems to have alot more torque, but the rubber just turns to smoke. If i could get the rubber to hang onto the concrete, i wonder if it could take my Z06 in the first few seconds. I have only had my Z for a couple days and i got into it a little today. When you tromp on the pedal, it is REALLY hard to get the tires to let loose and the rear end seems like it is touching the ground. It is definately quite a bit beefier than the 2000 ragtop i just traded in.

As far as mods go, i am leaning to keep it simple to ensure the factory warranty stays around for a few years. I would like to put a Halltech ram air snorkel, replace the front "license plate" area with an open air meshed replacement to feed the intake system, i am also thinking about changing out the shifting mechanism to something with a shorter throw. Any suggestions???
