Hey guys-

I have gotten the bug to get a C4. I've owned straight axle cars, midyears, and sharks, but nothing newer than an '81.
I came close to buying a '93 Anniv. Edition a couple of years ago, but the deal fell through. Lately, I have been checking out '90-'92 ZR1s. Now I am getting equally intrigued by the '96 LT4 cars. Without being too biased, if you had your choice between the ZR1 and an LT4 car, which would choose and why? I'm just looking for some logical pros and cons, and a bit of prediction on future value wouldn't hurt, either.

Thanks-Rich

Great Choice - They Are Both Great C4 Corvettes!

Speed Perspective - A ZR1 will outrun the LT4 . . .

LT4's were the last year of the C4, hence the latest & greatest interior unless a 94 or 95 ZR1 is part of the equation. A 96 LT4 will more than likely cost less than a 94/95 ZR1.

We could go thru the cost of parts but that horse has been beat to death.

I went thru this decision before I purchased my LT4 a few years ago.

Enjoy the Hunt, let us know what you end up with.

Later . . . . . .

If I were to buy a C4, those would be the two I'd be most interested in. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Parts for the ZR1 are getting scarce, as well as people with the skills to work on them. Given those two choices... I would pick the LT4.

I agree with 74bigblock, although the ZR1 is a very fine machine. I think some would depend on how much you would drive it. If the miles were somewhat limited, parts availability and a mechanic could matter less than if you planned on lots of miles. PM Rob, the administrator of this site and get his perspective. He has a ZR1 (or so it is rumored!)

Thanks for the replies, I already see that there's some things I hadn't thought about. This may boil down to whichever one "strikes" me when I look at it.

That's right! That's how I buy 'em. But...

The ZR1 is a gawd awful fast car and quite rare! They are dirt cheap still but they won't be forever, this may be your only opportunity to own one. There have been some pretty forgettable rides around my family, but I'll never forget all of the times I took my Dads ZR1 out for rides (I have the same name as him so I had my own set of keys made at the dealer)! That one was very special, and will still spank almost anything on the road (including my not quite stock C3). Damn that's an awesome car!

the zr1 is a beast indeed. one you ride in a stout stroker zr1, you will

forget about most of the competition. very fast cars indeed.

just went to big pilot sport cups, 345 18 s

they are broken in now and are really getting sticky

dc weather has been 100 deg and they warm up and stick like glue

Go for the ZR-1…Don’t believe all the myths about parts or hard to work on. The only thing different is the LT5 the rest is just a C4.. Now go do your homework on the ZR-1 you will find every one who has one loves it and most do there own work all you need is a service manual and some common mechanical skill.

You didnt mention your intended use, but I vote for the ZR1 hands down.

Looking at a 95 ZR-1 right now for another toy. On the other side, i had a pair of Grand Sports, Cpe. and Vert.

Miss the heck out of the Cpe., handled great and the LT-4 is a fantastic motor. Way under rated on H.P., i pulled 307 H.P. on the Dyno at rear wheels stock. The Vert. was too unstable at speeds and rattled like hell. But with only 190 made, very rare. I would say, you can't go wrong on either choice.

Good Luck....

Jack
