Have a nice car pad in back yard and would like to install a canopy about 11x15 would be nice, but premade ones with tarps come in about 10x16.

Here is the dilema: The tarp ones with 1-3/8" steel poles cost about 200 to 300 hundred dollars and have a warranty (tarp) for about 5 years.

This a.m. I was given an estimate for an aluminum one $3200! built in place with one post in concrete the others surface mounted. Now this one will out last me and more but I could buy about 10 tarp canopy kits with money left over to replace the tarps as needed.

I did not tell the estimator this but was this written to see what he could get out of me? After all there was my 50th Anny sitting right there and perhaps he thought I have
all kinds of money laying around just to give him...

I think I could just replace the tarp every few years if it comes down to it but the look is cheap and I'm not in the best shape of my life- to keep replacing the tarp and it's just all down hill anyway.. And for that matter what do I need the money for?? But $3200?

Any thoughts out there?:crazy

I just installed a 10 x 20 Canopy (top and four sides)over the week end.Very easy to do with two people.
I paid $199.99 at Costco.I am happy with the result and quality and for me this is the way to go.

Just Found Ideal Canopy Maker

Look up Carport.com, they make custom order carports or? with warranties and installation. Great prices.

Not affiliated with them.

Elephant structures, Carports

Well, I'm gonna do it, I will be ordering a Carport Structure from them in a few days. Need to clarify a few points with them such as side height and center top height, we have a code here in
my town for 8 feet tops in height....

Funny thing happened that I'd also like to discuss with them: I spoke with a salesman and was given the advice to wait for Black Friday before ordering, I did and guess what? The price was about
$200 more than a few days previously....:nono

So I did not buy it and put it off until today, have a call in to said salesman for a call back, if he's still there.....

I've seen some of their structures and they are well built kits that a local contractor puts up, if we ever move we can take it with us! The Harbor F. ones are no comparisons...

I would buy two right off the bat and store the unused one as a replacement. This way you would always have one at the ready if needed. I found companies like to change things around every so often for whatever reason and when you try to replace some part a whole new system has to be bought.

Just food for thought.
