Question: Resister between cig liter and gear shift

are the side of the console open,I'm trying to figure out what you are asking about but I cant
think of what it might be except for,perhaps the alarm/it won't start relay/solenoid.
but I'm not sure they had them in the '80 corvette.

The resister has a striped orange, yellow,light and dark blue wires attached to it.

Are you sure the dark blue wire doesn't have a white stripe?

I opened up my console on my 81 today.... didn't find the color combo of wires you mentioned.however, it is either the switch for the Hvac,rear defroster or anti theft solenoid. As they are in that immediate area.can't imaging what else it can be.

my mistake, it is a cellenoid not a resister. and it is a dark blue wire with a white stripe.

I was not aware of a Anti-Theft device on the 1980 Corvette ... I thought it was introduced on the 1981 Model year??? (that would be the ignition disable) Hmmm time to pause, reflect and get my @!#$ together

Is there a chance that on the 80 Corvette this cellenooid controlls the Airconditioning. I have disconnected this celleniod and every thing seems to work. Ihave removed air conditioning from my car.
