You should change dexcool every year and not mix the green unless it states it on the container. Prestone has a new compatible mixture. FYI do a google search on dexcool. Class action lawsuit is pending

WOW, D95. Thanks for that info. I'm sitting here fat, dumb and happy and was unaware of the problems with Dexcool. Now I am worried about what may be happening with my engine. It's been about 4 years since the anti-freeze was changed. Is anyone sure that the green stuff is OK for this Chevy engine??

That Delteq kit looks real sweet, how long has that been around? Anyone have one of those ?

Newbie to the board here.
I have the DELTEQ. ALL I did was get the reverse torx bit tools from Snap On, took the Opti apart, cut the rotor tip off and just loctited the rotor back down so the Optical Sensor works for the DELTEQ to read.
I broke many Optis, and Dynasparks (one due to bad install on my part). The Opti really isnt good for high rpm, and it is very cheap material, as the rotor was very brittle.
My DELTEQ allows me to fire right up and works great with great customer service too.
Plug wires are easy to, just by one lenth, Taylor wires and a crimper and custom lengths are easy to do if you ever need new ones.
Parts are very available, as the ignition was standard on many years of the Northstar system.

The new prestone (green) should be compatible with the dexcool. If you changed the antifreeze with the green 4 years ago chances are you used the old prestone that is not compatible with the dexcool. If you mix the old prestone and dexcool it will gel up and turn into a muddy color. If you have dexcool (which you currently do not have) It would be a good idea to drain and flush every year to avoid problems. I changed my 95 from dexcool to the new prestone 50/50 mix. I flushed the engine many times before I converted. Even with the new antifreeze you should change the coolant every 1-2 years. These engines run hot. If your coolant is still green after 4 years thats a good sign that you are ok but you should change it now. good luck
