Can anyone tell me what size the torx bolts are that mount the alternator? The one thru bolt has a 15mm nut on it but I dont have much tool kit right now and no FSM with me as I am on vacation and broke down.

Thanks gang!!

Vacation and broke down.......doesn't sound like the ideal situation. Sorry to hear of your troubles, as far as answering your question, I can't help right now. I'll have to move the wifes car and get the Vette down off the lift to check. Hopefully before I have a chance to do that someone else will jump in here and give you the info that you need. If not I'll post up when I get the things switched around.

If all else fails, just make your way to a hardware/auto parts store, like ACE/AutoZone/etc. and buy one of those very inexpensive multi-size torx bit kits. I find them in display bins where sale tools are. I'll bet less than $10.

I use a T50 on mine It's a little sloppy but the next size up is too big

Torx Size

I am hoping by now you have fixed your problem and are back on the road. I just went out on my 93 with a hand full of tools and yes a T50 will work on the alternator bolts. Again I hope my late reply is anti climatic and all is well with your car.:beer

Thanks John I just ended up buying a whole torx driver set from Advance when i picked up the alternator . I figure I'll be needing them anyway. I had some but left them home. I tried to bring a few tools but with limited space didnt know what to bring and what to leave home.
I did end up getting her fixed and shese charging as she should. Hopefully i can get her back to Roanoke without further incident.
And when shes safe at home I think i'm gonna start replacing some other marginal stuff i.e. water pump and opti.

There's an in-between size called a T50-PLUS. The SuperDamper calls for one. Only place I've found it is at Summit Racing.
