My 93 LT1 sometimes won't start--just fires but then dies--after several tries it will start & runs fine--have noticed that the "security" light & "SYS" flashes 3 times on the instrument panel--this seems to have started about the same time as the "no start" problem---anyone had this problem & are they related ? What was the fix for this ?

I have not had this problem, but beings they started at the same time, it would appear to me that it is too coincidental. I'd bet they are related.

I'm not sure which terminals you jumper on a 93 ( my 90 uses A & G ) to check for CCM codes. You might check this since Security and SYS are controlled by the CCM.

Still hoping for help with my no start problem--mechanic got no spark & was sure the opti-spark was bad--replaced it & still have problem--what codes can i expect to get from the CCM to see if the security & sys are related to the no start problem

Vats disables the starter, fuel pump and I believe the injector pulse. I just had to replace the reader, I had to take apart half the column. when I turned the key the security light wouldnt go out and nothing would happen. The security light blinking 3 times when your problem happens cant be a coincidence. The central control module (ccm) controls vats (security) and when the ccm is malfunctioning it displays SYS on the dash. jumper a&g pins on the aldl and see what you get. What it sounds like is your ccm is on the fritz and you didnt need an opti

good luck

CCM is bad per GM & they are backed ordered until January--anyone know where to get one sooner?

Jump A (top right) & G (bottom left) on your ALDL and see what codes you get from the CCM. Post the codes and we can try to help.
While they tell you the CCM is bad, it doesn't hurt to get a second opinion before surgery.

edit:
When I thought mine might be bad, I checked at CARDONE. They have remanufactured units if you don't want to wait.
