quick question here. My Passenger side head light makes a popping sound when its closed. Is it the bushing inside that is doing that or the gears?
It pops about 10 times then quits. It has on 2 occasions kind of had a lazy eye.

My 1994 just started doing this as well. It has stuck halfway when opening less than 10 times, and does the popping whenever I shut the lights. Even if I put the parking lights on without flipping the lights up, and then shut them off, popopopopopop.

I think there's a little feeler arm that we have to adjust to meet the headlight housing. Compare the little rubber foot on your driver's side to the one on the passenger side, after popping your hood.

Definitely sounds like the bushings are going, good thing is if thats it, it's a simple do it yourself fix and cheap. Have you found any of the other threads on how to do it yet? There's one web page that really breaks it down in pictures step by step, let me know if you need help finding the "how too" stuff on it thats already been posted.

Thanks Corvette Peoples. i believe that I can even do this one. The bushings is what I hope it is. I figure I will just send the extra dollars and buy the metal gears and bushing lit.

I would hold off on the gears if I was you, odds are they're just fine and only need the old bushing dust/dirt/remains cleaned out good along with the new bushings installed.

Maybe stay with plastic gears, and skip the bronze gears.

If the bushings somehow DON'T fail, like they're supposed to, you want the next weakest link to break - the plastic gears. After that link is the motor. Put in bronze gears, and guess what's gonna' give, between them or the motor???

Was not the problem, I was so sure it was. I can easily rotate the headlight 5-10 degrees just by tapping it. I'll check the tube, but I'm 99% sure my problem is the bushings.
