Sport seats from '85, $100 for the pair

I'm selling the seats from my '85. They're dark gray aftermarket cloth in very rough shape. power drive, manual passenger. Driver side forward/back/tilt/recline works. Passenger recline doesn't work. Neither side lumbar or wings work. Not interested in shipping, although I might be able to...

    window regulator upgrade

Got it done. I didn't realize there was a hidden bolt on the rear "claw" stop that adjusts it in/out. Once I tweaked that a little, everything lined up perfect. On to the next project!

    What Octane

On a cast iron engine, open chamber heads, mild cam. Yes. With a knock sensor, the computer can pull timing to allow it to run okay on lower octane but it really wants the good stuff. Here's an article that maybe says it better than me: How do cams affect compression?

    What Octane

Sure, why not. Might as well throw in my own opinions. I'm no ASE certified nothing, but I've apparently been building engines longer than a lot of you have been alive. My rule of thumb has always been 10 points of octane for every 1 point of compression. So a 9:1 engine would need 90 octane...

    window regulator upgrade

The glass mounting bolts only adjust for forward/back, or up/down. In my case the top of the glass needs to move outward, away from the car. The front top edge brushes against the A-pillar trim when you close it and is completely underneath the weatherstripping. Any kind of shimming of those...

    window regulator upgrade

So I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the passenger window on my '85. I picked up a used scissor style regulator off ebay for $120 and put it in last weekend. Problem is, the glass seems to be leaning too far in and none of the adjustments seems to help. I'm thinking the regulator is bent...

Help? Rubber floor instead of carpet?

I can see it. Sort of old school like the street legal drag cars of the '60's that didn't even have carpet as an option. Have you thought about bedliner? I've seen some trucks with bedliner instead of carpet and it looked pretty cool.

Question: Back Firing though Intake Manifold

I'm assuming it's just a kind of sneeze and not an actual, flame spitting, blast into the intake. First off, I would be highly suspect of the quality of any parts the dealer put on before you bought it. New cap and wires would be my first stop, or at least look at them real close. If you're 100%...

C4 Window ribbon replacment- just say no

Nobody had one locally which was the reason I got one from Zip. It was probably a Dorman. THe package it came in said something about Chrysler. The thing that surprised me was how powerful that motor is. This ribbon was made out of very thick, heavy plastic. It wasn't terribly flexible, so I get...

    85 running rough

Just off hand, your idle seems a little low compared to mine. I was just driving my '85 around a bit this afternoon. In park, I'm at about 1200 on a cold start, quickly dropping to 950-1000. In gear it drops to 650-750. Might want to make sure the idle and tps are set correctly. Mine was all...

    High NOX - EGR?

I'd say EGR is a good guess. THe valve itself is just a vacuum diaphragm. I've never seen the diaphragm tear, but I have seen the valve stick shut. Take it off, and see if you can force the the plunger back. If it moves, I would then look at the relay or vacuum line itself. I fortunately...

C4 Window ribbon replacment- just say no

Since I bought it, my passenger window has not gone down smoothly. Classic broken window ribbon- hit the down button and it would go down a couple inches, stop, then fall or need to be pushed the rest of the way. I don't have $150+ for the upgrade, and the ribbon style is fast enough for my...

    Do LT1 heads fit L83?

The LT1 is reverse flow cooling, so I'm pretty sure that makes it a no go with your existing block. You might consider the l31 vortec head. Similar combustion chamber to the LT1 but drops right onto your block. Not sure about fuel injection options though.

Best Fix for GM/Delphi Connector with Lock Tab Broken Off

I've never really had trouble with them coming loose after the locking tab breaks, that lip seal thing holds 'em plenty tight. However, if you want to redo it right Summit and Jegs both have kits to create totally new Weatherpak connectors (search Weather-Tite on Summit, Jegs is Weatherpak)...

    Help! 1986 oil pan replacement

Just to clarify... You rebuilt the stock engine and now the pan that was originally on it doesn't fit? What does it not fit on? Did you install a different oil pump? If so, you may need to adjust the pickup height.
