Conclusion
So the happy ending of this story is that:
a. I was correct in that a dead main battery will cause all four TPMS devices to go out of synch with the car’s computer when a new battery and power is restored. The coincidence of all the tire pressure value being XX right after...
... now that I think of it...
Will someone elses fob for a different vette or even a new replacement fob (not synced) work in the glove compartment fob slot?
im guessing the fob does NOT need to be synced to work, or else a dead battery fob wouldn’t work either. While convenient, this might...
I remember those in the 1970-80s as a kid in upstate NY. Had the same problem filling my 1974 Honda SL-125-K2 motorcycle’s gas tank for the same reasons.
Thats a a different problem than what we suffer with fuel return systems here in the Left Coast.
Oh oh and here they are trying to push...
I did drive my 2008 C6 after I got the batteries sorted for about 30 minutes. The blank pressure values went to XX for each tire. This tells me that when both the car and fob lose power, the data is lost or reset. Can someone verify this?
So American Tire wants to charge me $40 to relearn the...
@LLCS,
Good idea about going to a tire store for a TPS health check (free hopefully)
When a car and/or Fob battery go dead, at the same time or separately, does the TPMS system have to relearn the TPS data for each wheel (assume the TPS batteries are good)?
And if yes, what is this procedure...
The other part to this is how to start the vette (assuming that only the fob battery is dead)...
So once in in the car, and there is car battery power, how to start it with a dead Fob battery?
1. Open the glove compartment
2. Find the rectangular slot on the left side
3. Insert the dead...
Also, the California refueling nozzle has a fumes return system and rubber seal with a flow switch. Unless the nozzle is all the way in, and the seal is made, it won’t pump fuel.
:eyerole
The thing to to remember about these modern vehicles is that they have a fuel fume filtering system that...
This week my C6 Vette 2008 basic coupe’s main battery went dead. Curiosly, so did the keyless remote fob’s battery, because I couldn’t unlock the door after recharging the car battery - the two situations being related, I just don’t know. Anyways, I chargd the car and replaced the fob...
One of the cleanest C4s I've ever seen. Makes me want to go wax my white 90 right now!
:cool!:
Breaks my heart that almost no one I run into likes the C4. Been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned.
Carplay
I have to admit im behind the curve on automotive electronics, and i thank you Tom for waking me up to "carplay".
So I started researching and found this one, which presumably fots the C6 console:
AVIC-8000NEX - In-Dash Navigation AV Receiver with 7” WVGA Capacitive Touchscreen...
Any find a good bluetooth addon to pair with my iPhone6?
I currently use a small radio transmitter, but would like to upgrade to a easy to install bluetooth unit.
Ive noticed that when my C6 coupe gets hot inside (summer heat or heater running), the Nav system will fail to read the DVD.
Ive tried all the simple tricks like air blow out the dust, dvd lens cleaner and another new GPS DVD. Same thing. Im pretty sure this is an electonics component thermal...
Typically, LEDs run cooler than incandescent or HIDs. Unless I'm missing something here, I don't see the problem.
typical incadecent 1156 bulb runs 26.9 watts, while a led runs at 3 watts; or roughly 1/10 as hot...
My 1990 C4 has these lighting modes with the switch panel (shown below):
1. Head lamps, fog lamps, parking/side marker lights, internal lighting Off: rotating switch full CCW
2. Parking lights on: rotating switch one position CW, fog lamps switch can be turned on or off
3. Head &...
I replaced the fog lamps and rear view mirror'a map lamps with LEDs, and was the best bang for the buck face lift ever. Like $30.
Bought the pair of 880L LED replacements off Ebay for $12 with this title:
"2x High Power 880 892 893 899 Cree LED Bulb Fog Driving Light Lamp White"...
