I just took some measurements. With the car on the ground rear shocks measure 13.5' top to bottom mount, center to center. With the rear wheel just off the ground, it measures 14.5" and with the shock unmounted and the wheel off the ground it's at 15.5". That explains why shocks to spec won't...

Yes, I have put it on a lift. Like I said, with the old shocks, to spec, the bottom mount was below the extended shock which is why I went to longer ones. I'm baffled.

Will a Muncie 4 speed shifter from 64 Corvette fit a 62? I have a chance to pick one up complete, all linkage for under $200. I have the correct transmission in my 62 but have a Hurst shifter, would like to get it back to a Muncie.

Started driving my 62 with the top up, figure I have a couple more weeks of driving weather before the snow hits. Noticed a gas smell while driving, it's persisted for two days. Anyone have any ideas? Should the gas cap be vented or non vented? Thanks

1962 spring dimensions The springs I received are 13 5/8" long. Wire diameter is .561, O D is 4.45 and the I D is 3.30. There are 9 coils. Springs marked as 58-62 standard.
