It could just be the rubber bushings that are in the calipers for the bolts, they tend to wear after time. Take a trip to your local advance auto and pick up a hardware kit for the front, one kit will do both sides.
If you haven't already bought wheels, you can buy C5 and C6 replica wheels brand new that are made to fit the C4 without a spacer. There are several companies that sell them, just do a search for C5 or C6 replica wheels and then look through them for ones made for a C4.
I love my C5, but have always loved and wanted a C4 since I was a teenager. Well I finally did it....Found one a few days ago. 1994 Admiral Blue 6speed with only 24,500 miles on her. Technically this was bought to be my girlfriend's car, but we won't tell her that it is really MINE!!!
