Darren.. you might want to check the T-Stat.. maybe it is stuck closed. Where the Fans coming on at the right temp or even at all ?
Check to make sure there are not leaks in any of the hoses.
can't think of any other things to check right now..
What I know of most system and from what I have researched.. the 90+ is ECM controlled, but the pre-90's is not (?), 84-89 is switched and relay controlled. (guys correct me if I am wrong).
The Fans are not always controlled by the ECM. As in my 84 Z28.. it has a fan switch in the passenger...
On the Headlight actuator gears.. I see many vendors market Brass or Bronze replacement gears for the Headlight Actuators.
My question is that I see on E-Bay someone is marking a precision CNC machine made hard anodized aluminum replacement gear.
Has anyone tried these gears ? any pro/con on...
TedC. yes.. I have not gotten around to doing a complete tune up yet.. but this weekend will be a Oil/Filter change, the Cap/Rotor with Spark Plugs.. and maybe the O2.. it is on my list of 2do's... also have to do the Trans Filter/Gasket.. as there is some leakage from the Trans at this time...
Ok.. I did the low idle adjustment for the IAC and all seem ok tonight and after a 65 mile drive.
Thanks for the information and procedure.. I still need to check the TPS.. but that will get done this weekend..
I would suggest the 383 stroker route with mid range CAM (Calif smog), some LT4 ported heads and Intake. there are many Engine builder that will sell you a custom turn-key crate engine for a fair price. If that doesn't get you to the power level that you want, there are other bolt on's and power...
I am not sure how the Vette TPI and ECM works... but I know that many have put a HyperTech or other kits that include a new Fan Switch and sometimes a harness and some require a ECM change or chip.
On my 84 Z28 I used GM #3053190 (Delco 213-928 or Standard TS136) that has a on setting of 195...

I have been researching and I think I will try and set low idle for the IAC, and TPS, but looking for the correct procedures to make sure I doing it right.. I read a few thread instructing of how to do it..
Anyone have a good write up or web page ?
thanks
I am also having a bit of a High Idle problem also.. I am interested in hearing or input as to what test or procedures I should be doing in order to find and resolve.
I had some Vacuum leaks, but I think I got all of them, had a lot of old and hard hoses.
I had some ECM codes but I resolved...

Thanks for your input... I have used K&N without any problem and yes, I understand that some have had problems and other don't think that they Perform or is worth the cost. I guess I am just one of those old guys.. if it ain't broke, then don't fix it.. and if it works for me. .then...
Just use a few washers and if needed, go to the hardware store and pickup a few grade 8 bolts that are longer.. You will be supprised at what a 3/8" to 1/2" will do in your seating postion.
Maybe just try sitting on few Corvette Catalogs on top of the seat just to see what the difference will...
Well looks like my efforts have resulted in clearing up all of the codes !
I also replaced the Throttle Body gasket, reseated some vacuum tubes and hoses and checked and seated some more connections.
The Throttle body was pertty dirty from carbon.. I sprayed it down with some more cleaner. I...
Well.. I Sea Foamed the engine to day.... clean up the engine bay a bit.. swapped in the Relays, cleaned out the Air Box and the tubes.
Sprayed the MAF with some MAF cleaner, use some Electrical cleaner on the connectors and started it back up.. well Code 34 and 42 are gone (for now?) but the...
boostedmaxPSI.. thanks.. very good information ... as soon as I can get around to checking everything and following this artical.. hopefully it will resolve the codes..
bossvette - cool.. once i get my problems resolved.. I will ping in there too :D I got the truck for free from my cousin after...
