When I got my '79 it had a light smell of cigarrette smoke and since the previous owner did not smoke it was a longer lasting smell.
I kept both windows open while the car was in the garage for three months and now with the car closed up I use a fresh laundry sheet like Bounce every month...
Mobil1 switching to Valvoline Max Life
I have Mobil 1 (non- synthetic) 5W-30 in now. When I first got the car I put Mobil 1 Synthetic and started seeing more leaks.
Next Spring will try the Valvoline Max Life 5W-30.
I use the AC Delco Oil Filter. The car has 50k miles and the engine a bit...
For the Website Adminstrators.....
Can we have a NCRS avatar emblem much like the NCM one?
Does NCRS have to be a finanial contributor to this website for us to have one or has it just not been asked for before?
Thanks,
.
Build Sheet
I would remove the original, copy it and put it in plastic or some other type of way to preserve it. If left on top of the fuel tank it will be gone soon.
Replacing the original Build Sheet back to the top of the tank. I don't think if NCRS judging or Bloomington Gold would be far...
Robin, the NCRS is a great organization. The people are very knowable and friendly and always willing to help you with your Corvette.
I have belonged to NCRS for many many years nationally and have just last year decided to become active in my local chapter and have joined with them here in...
No I am not from that area, but my '79 Corvette was first delievered in Selma and the first owner was registered as living in Muncie.
Do you know if that Chevrolet Dealership in Selma is still selling cars?
Thanks,
.
I am looking to buy an original passenger car 1979 Indiana state license plate with county code number 18 for Delaware County, Indiana.
Perfer Good to Excellent condition. Would perfer a set, but singles okay.
Thanks,

I'm not re-newing my subscriptions either to Vette magazine or Corvette Fever. Again too much info on C5s.
I presently get Auto Restorer, Cars & Parts, NCRS and CCA magazines and materials. They are fine with me.
All though the new C5s are nice to look at and I am sure fun to drive, I am just...
I replaced mine last Fall. You can go three ways on this. Parts Store cut to fit, Corvette Repo fitted, but not molded or GM OEM replacement still available.
I went with the third option from GM. Paid way too much for this part. Parts man said he was giving me a "good" deal on price at $93...
Keep the 442!
I'm just glad I don't have to make that decision. I couldn't sell either one!
I am a long time Corvette lover and these two cars are the two I would want in my garage.
If you have to I would sell the Corvette. There are just more Corvettes out there that you could replace later...
Thanks Again "Stinngray"
I finally got a new Dremel Tool and did cut off the bolt heads and then bent up the clips and then cut them in half. Difficult job with so little room to work under the front end of the Vette. I guess I could have put the car up on stands or something.
Picked up some...
Decided to replace my worn and broken front Air Dam on my '79. Ordered and recieved the new part. When I went to remove the eight lower bolts that are in the clips on the fiberglass lip all the bolts either broke or wouldn't move due to heavy rust! I ended up cutting the plastic thing off in...
Goodyear
I have the Goodyear Eagle GT II on my car and am very happy with them. The tire is ST speed rated so it's not a super high perfomance tire. My car is stock so high speed corning is not something I do very often.
These tires are also the closest original replacement for my car since...
L-48 or L-82?
To get another answer to possibly which engine the car came from the factory with.
Look at the Tachometer. I believe the red lines are different for each engine.
.
Mine is doing the same?....
When my A/C is on the cold air is also coming out the floor vents like where the heater hot air should come from?
Mine was working fine until I got my car back from the Chevrolet Dealership after wiring a factory radio that I had installed.
Could they have possibly...

Only the L82 utilized a hood emblem.
This emblem was placed on the sides of the power bulge
