Try jacking up the rear of the car (Or have a mechanic do it) and wiggle the rear tires hard side to side. Sounds like you've got a wheel bearing problem.
The only reason why I say its the rears is because they're famous for having problems due to the indy suspension.
If you take it to a...
DO NOT use Dexcool (The red stuff) you totally have the wrong system for it. (Made for GM Late 90's+)
As for the coolant half and half is always a good measure. If you buy one jug you should end up with two.
Theres a couple gaskets, O-rings and a return spring.
Last time I saw one rebuilt the plunger got a couple new O-rings, new return spring and new gaskets and seals. As long as the reserve isn't cracked or the housing a guy could have it done in no time flat.
Dude you pbly could do it yourself...
Edmond just rebuild it. If you casting (Metal) is not scored or cracked why replace it ..really..
You paying da bucks for what you already got. If you want just take it off and send it to a certified tech (Grease monkey) with the rebuild kit of your choice. This will most likely save you...
A pumps a pump. Just when you buy it make sure theres no cracks in the casting and the motion of the impeller is kinda stiff.
One more thing to look for it the flange that fits to the timing cover. Sometimes the casting is uneven or real thin make sure this doesn't happen to you or it'll leak...
Yank the thermostat and refill the cooling system...properly
If that doesn't fix it ya check out the vaccum lines. When you rev the motor up its drawing more vaccum and releasing the heater door and when its at idle it doesn't have enough juice to keep it open....
Common GM problem but...
We've always run regular and never had a problem. I mean we do NOT have high compression engines (10:1 over) and we do NOT run turbos or superchargers so really whats the point.
About every 5 tanks I'll use premium to wash out the injectors but thats about it.
No DOHC No Turbo No...
Actually with the resources you seem to have, BACK the car on to the Rhino ramp this will allow alot more of the coolant in the water jackets to flow to the rad.
Heres where I say pull the Low rad hose from the rad and then once done either take the car off the ramps to make it level for the...
It sounds like either a REAL small leak that only leaks when the clutch is depressed or the return spring in the master cylinder is bust but adding clutch fluid would'nt help that.
Im shooting for a leak in the connecting line or more probably a seal leaking in either the slave cylinder or the...
HEY I just saw the 2 bolt Vs 4 Bolt thread...
How much would it cost to have my block made into a 4 bolt straight or even a 4 bolt splayed??
GOTTA be cheaper than replacing!!
This way I can simply rebuild with a head change Hmmmm..
And do I have enough "meat" on the block to even bother...
I may trade the block I have in for one with a 4 Bolt bolt main setup. I don't like the idea of a 2 bolt main set up with the oncoming modifications in the planning stages.
Plus its OLD.
If Im going to do this much work I might as well replace the engine with new everything, that way theres no...
Thanks Mic
But what about the prices on the SuperRam am I incorrect in saying they are exactly 3 times the money of the TPiS? If they are I really can't see how they are THREE times better. (Better mabe but that much??)
I was going through the idea of 383's but for the price of the job and the warranty I might as well just stick to a BRAND new engine thats designed to work the ponys just the same.
I didn't know that about the super ram I only saw the price being 3 times higher! 1100 Vs 3500. Thats why I picked...
Thats what Ive come to undertstand as well. Im sold on the Miniram for more than a few reasons and also a block change is going to be in order hence the idea of the redi-built crates.
Chris: LOVE to! But some assembly required is almost all the fun LOL. (Wish I could bud)
So the gear swap with...
10 to 1 it isn't the Power steering...
I had the EXACT problem and here it is:
The problem your having is called morning sickness and your seems to be in its final stages, like mine. What it is, is the rack and pinion system.
The aluminum sheath that surrounds the inner parts has warped and...
I have heard that there are two generations of ZF-6's so this could be very true.
I think the idea was to beef up the trans for the later ZR1's and LT4's
