    Chicago Corvette Supply?

I didn't buy off of ebay - but that's how I found them. I didn't even know it was Chicago Corvette until I got the first package and saw the receipt and return label. I'm starting to think that he told me he had the intake just to sell the carb...which will suck because the carb is kind of...

    Chicago Corvette Supply?

Any of you guys ever deal with this company? I bought a 62 AFB, intake, distributor and heater control valve from them through their ebay store (mztcarb). I didn't know what the company name was until boxes started arriving with Chicago Corvette Supply on the receipts. The receipts show a...

The stars are aligning for my 62!

If only it were 2 weeks earlier in build! Thanks for the offer...but I'm still on the fence over whether I want to spend too much time on the block or not. I don't even know if I'm going to install these heads anytime soon, but it was sweet to find them. My wife just wanted me to get a carb...

The stars are aligning for my 62!

Within the past week, I've managed to find a Carter AFB and 349 intake from April of 1962 (my car was built in May). The seller also has a new single point vacuum advance distributor. I thought this was pretty sweet - how could it get better? Well...I just won this auction...

    Vendor Warning: Corvetteworx

I ALWAYS charge before I ship - if you don't, how do you know the card is good? If an item is backordered (and it's not an online sale which is charged the instant the order is placed), I don't charge until the item arrives...but still before it ships.

    Vendor Warning: Corvetteworx

Stories like this are the reason I took 10 years to get my business to the point that it would occupy me full time. If I can't stock it, I don't carry it. I'm more expensive than a lot of places, but they won't touch me on customer service. I'd much rather eat a $100 loss to keep a reasonable...

    Need to change cam?

Thanks John (Again!). Anyone got a good picture...or 2 or 3...of the 300HP manifold/carb set up properly? I'm going to have to get choke tubes, new fuel lines from the pump to the carb, etc. I'd like to do it properly. EDIT - never mind. I didn't turn enough pages in Adams' book!

    Need to change cam?

I'm in the process of undoing some of the 'hot-rodding' that was done to my car. It came to me with a 780cfm Holley, Edlebrock intake, high lift cam and solid lifters. I've found a date correct Carter 3269S AFB (freakin' expensive carb!) and cast iron manifold (trying to bring the car to 300HP...

    New Garage Construction

I live in an HOA and, after a year and some lawyers talking, I'm moving forward with my outbuilding. It'll be a 32x56 pole building, but I had to increase the roof pitch, add wainscoting and put overhangs on all 4 sides to make it 'pretty' enough for them. I'm not complaining...the same size...

Garages go gigantic: Car buffs opt for bigger spaces

We break ground on our 32x56 building in about three weeks. We've got over 3 acres, so there will be plenty of grass left. Do you guys with lifts know if a 4 post has to have reinforced concrete? We're going to have a 4" fiberfill concrete floor. I'm going to have at least 2 storage lifts...

    62 heat control valve

Thanks John. The valve I took off did not have the cap tube, and I wasn't planning to sweat it when I replace it. Considering I have about $5K to spend to make it even LOOK like it's not a driver, cap tubes are the least of my worries :) IH2LOSE, under WOT it stumbles a bit. Nothing...

    62 heat control valve

LOL...I discovered the Corvette World catalog tonight. I don't think there's a page in it without something highlighted. On another note, without the heater core leaking we took the car on a 25 mile drive last night. It idles without a spewing a cloud of unburned gas and is firing on all 8...

    62 heat control valve

Thanks. I removed the valve today and bypassed it with a piece of hose for the time being. The old one didn't have the capillary tube, so it's probably a replacement too. Time to start putting together another wish list!

Carb tuning help for a newbie

Are the Carter AFBs date coded? I've found a place that has restored 3269s for $795 (seems kind of pricey, but if they're truly as rare as they're appearing to be I guess you pay for that rarity...). For that price, I want to be sure I get one that will be proper for my car.

    62 heat control valve

Another part falls victim to 25 years of sitting idle... We took the car out to test out my carb tuning (which seems to be paying off in the short drive we managed). About 200 yards from the house, coolant started dripping onto my wife's foot. We got it home and coolant was coming out of the...

Carb tuning help for a newbie

How'd I know you were going to say that, John? :) (I read essentially the same thing in a post by you from 2001 on a Z28 forum). Is the 1850 the same thing as the Holley 80145 that you recommended to the Camaro guys? Would you recommend going this route over holding out for the proper AFB...

Carb tuning help for a newbie

I haven't know the carb but for about 3 weeks. :) The plugs are gapped to .035 and were newish Delco 45s. The points were newish also and I set their gap to .015 at the top of the distributor lobe. Static timing is 10BTDC. Everything on the tune-up side looked good (the point gaps were a...

Carb tuning help for a newbie

Thanks Tom. Does a divorced choke need a choke tube, or is the heat from the intake manifold the only thing that acts on the thermostatic coil? I never thought of the choke plate flapping around...I'll get a spring on that puppy ASAP!
