    Dash Lights Don't Illuminate

Yep, that's it! Mine's mounted in a verticle (on edge) position with a screw through the round hole. Thanks for the parts ordering links. I BOOKMARKED them into the "Favorites" section of my browser. Jake

    94 LT1 headlamp door question.

Yep, I bought one on eBay that is the same year, color, options and slightly less mileage in NY. I plan to fly up there early next month to pick it up. Since my youngest daughter is graduating from American University in D.C. in early May, I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Fly up...

    Dash Lights Don't Illuminate

Okay, here's what I came up with after spending several hours upside down under the dash on my son's 96: The IPD ISN'T mounted as shown in my 96 FSM. The FSM shows a single bolt coming up from the bottom which looks like it would easily accessible. Nope, not the case on my 96. The tiny...

    94 LT1 headlamp door question.

Paul, it's in the 8B LIGHTING SYSTEMS AND HORNS section of the FSM. Something in the area of 8B-10. Of course, my FSM is for the 96 so the actual section number for your year is probably different from mine. GM loves to change things. Hope this helps. Jake

    85 digital dash removal

I pulled the DD on my 86 a few times and it's pretty easy to do. I didn't have a FSM (Factory Service Manual) at the time, so I just looked at what screws had to be removed; removing the DD was straight-forward. He should be able to see all the screws that need to be removed; the electrical...

    Service Engine Soon

Are you referring to the MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor? If that's the case, and for future information, you can grab one from a similar year wrecked 'F' body or (not as easy to find) Vette for about $50. They're directly interchangable. I even used one off a buddy's 85 Vette and it worked too...

    Dash Lights Don't Illuminate

Well, I decided to cut my son some slack, so I started working on the dash light problem this afternoon. I removed the plastic side plate and after not being able to see very much, I dropped the carpeted panel and then the metal support pan. At about this time I began running out of daylight...

    distributor install re-built 350 84 coupe

I'll assume that the engine hasn't been moved/turned/bumped after the distributor was removed. There are couple of things that have to be installed correctly AND there are a couple of ways to accomplish that. First, the rotor has to be aligned with the mark you made before you removed the...

    Dash Lights Don't Illuminate

Outstanding response! It's MUCH appreciated. When my son comes home from West Point for summer break next month, I'll show him your post and let him "have at it". I could do it for him, but my thinking is it's best for him to get this hands-on experience. Thanks much. Jake

    Aftermarket Oil Pan

I used a 6 quart GM 400 cid pan on the 415 I built for my 86 Vette. I got it from Scoggins-Dickey. Jake

    Dash Lights Don't Illuminate

My son has a 96 LT1. His cluster works fine, but all other dash lights are out. The dimmer works and controls the cluster, but CIC, headlight control, door lights, shifter, etc. are out. We checked each any every FUSE and all are good. Where should be go next. Thanks for any help. Jake

400 sbc into an 85 vette??

Here's what I found when I built a 415 for my 86. 5.7" rods caused me a clearance issue so I went with early, small journal Chevy rods. I recommend a mock-up just to see if you'll have clearance issues too. Head studs will probably not allow you to pull the heads once the engine is...

(Picture Thread) Show your C4 to the world!

I agree whole-heartedly! Nothing tops the C4s. Since my 96 burned in March, I've been in the market for a replacement and could buy ANY 'C' series. I won't buy anything other than another C4; it's the only series that floats my boat. Jake

    What's the Difference?

Nope, not a bit of difference. As soon as I walked up to the car I knew it would be a no-deal. I was just interested in seeing just how BAD it was. I'd spoken with the lady selling the car and told her I'd try to see why it is that the car runs rich (when it DID run), keeps killing 02s and...

    What's the Difference?

Thanks for the link (I had to add a "h" in front of the "ttp") but I got there. I saw three 96s, so I'll keep checking back. Jake

    What's the Difference?

Well, bad news for me, the 96 sold last week, before I received my settlement from THE HARTFORD. I drove down to Houston yesterday to look at the 96 and it's a TOTAL DIASTER! Broken windshield, clear coat peeling everywhere, damage to the rear, badly torn driver's seat, engine wouldn't start...
